ECHOLALIA 04:55
Close your eyes just sit here with me and listen to the waves giving beauty to your brain Echolalia; definition: repetition of words or sounds that you've heard, officially described as meaningless I'm here to tell you how wrong that is we're not meaningless what is life if not meaningFUL repetition?
2.
We're at Golden Gardens the crows and the pigeons are up in the pine trees scooping seeds from the parking lot I try and become them, I don't see an issue But C's not paying attention: she cares more bout the ocean view You see me sideways they see me right though: Dog on the sidewalk Cat on the floor I've got five records on the way!!
3.
MOMENTS 01:31
How does one live without such beautiful moments?
4.
The lonely autist in a room forgetting everything that's wrong and disappearing from that room manifestation in a song Two lonely autists in a room making music every day and if there's nothing left to connect them both then this has to be the way I'm tired of being dictated by words everyone else speaks to me without them everything is animate everything is empathetic I want to be the raw feeling that we're meant to be I'm tired of being dictated by words I'd be nonverbal if it meant my songs would feel less empty (I just wish I had more to say)
5.
Thank you for everything you'll be ok, and so will I I miss that little way that we would live when I was home Now everything seems to be changing, it's all unknown I wanna be here forever, I just wanna stay here forever, Can't you just be here? I understand you didn't figure it out when I was a kid. You're just like me I get it now, why that was the way you would talk to me. Cause you knew we were different that way
6.
I'm being genuine in fact, we all are I'm being genuine That's what I love about us (stop trying to dig yourself underground) The love is there we give it to the things that you wouldn't even think to look
7.
Gentle with me You'll see
8.
(I wish I was a little winter bird) It's wrong to say we're out of line we're dragged through nervous system fire we're taught not to listen to ourselves Can you repeat what I just told you? Look at me now look what I can do, not what I can't do Imagine that with less anxiety I have the wrong to be right I can't expect too much from a body that's dead I have got to take the time to heal I live in silence most of my evenings I hear everything and now I can't even take a rude gesture, and make it a good one It's so good to see you
9.
I think I think too much I know that I know too much I feel like I feel more than you I wish that my wishes could come true I dream that my dreams aren't dreams after all
10.
NOTHING 02:30
What is it like to hear nothing? it's not enough to just wear earplugs I put on some noise cancelling headphones at the best buy and start to cry cry cause I finally hear nothing!

about

Shoegaze is born out of the need for a type of music best enjoyed on a golden hour stroll;

Being autistic is love and beauty in repetitive pattern, giving a depth to life and insight to culture;

Echolalia, the autistic phenomenon of attaching to and repeating phrases, is mischaracterized as meaning𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴. There is a deep, soothing, and important satisfaction and joy that comes from it. What is life if not meaning𝘧𝘶𝘭 repetition? My aim is to convey my experiences with learning about my autism that involved destroying mischaracterizations, but that also shed light on my reasons for living. Truly, how else can one find joy in living without such beautiful moments?

This album is my effort to be more focused and concise, as well as more carefree, as Cypress Knees settles into a stylistic niche I would love to stay in for a while. In the same way that all albums are repetitions of the sounds and ideas that come from albums before them, this record is echolalia in more than just name, and is inspired heavily by the band SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE (spiritofthebeehive.bandcamp.com/album/hypnic-jerks) and the genre of shoegaze. This is music for slowing down and bathing in noise, marking time with repetitive rhythmic melody, rocking and swaying and spinning. Condensed sensory euphoria.

I am incredibly proud to present something I've worked so hard to get to. This is the true beginning of what I am determined to make a solid discography :)
